FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LINCOLNSHIRE, IL (June 2015) — Mariposa Salon in San Diego, California, has been named a “Salon of Distinction” in the nationally acclaimed “Salons of the Year” interior design competition sponsored by SALON TODAY, the leading business publication for the professional salon industry.
The salon, owned by Rebecca Nan Franks, distinguished itself among qualified entries, and was featured in the June 2015 issue of SALON TODAY magazine.
“This year, the competition was tough, as salon after salon created gorgeous spaces where clients could relax while team members could do their best work,” says Stacey Soble, editor in chief of SALON TODAY.
Salons competing in the annual “Salons of the Year” competition were either newly constructed or remodeled salons that opened between January 1, 2013, and December 31, 2014. A grand-prize winner and three runners-up were chosen, and 16 additional salons were named “Salons of Distinction” and featured in the June issue.
Salons were judged in six design categories: Use of Color, Lighting, Flooring, Efficient Use of Space, Consistency of Design and Overall Aesthetics. This year’s panel of judges included Jeff Grissler, partner and national sales manager for Quest Resources and the best-selling business author of the Ready, Set, Go! series; Laurel Nelson, the former editor of MODERN SALON and a current freelance writer for SALON TODAY; Jan Hillenmeyer, retired editor of MODERN SALON’s Memo, News and Portfolio sections; and Tomy Lulgjuraj, one of the owners of 6 Salon, last year’s Salons of the Year grand-prize winner.
Statistics and images of all 20 winning salons are posted on www.salontoday.com.
SALON TODAY magazine, published by Lincolnshire, Illinois-headquartered Vance Publishing, is the leading business publication written for salon owners and managers. It is a sister publication to MODERN SALON magazine.
